Time flies: today marks three months since my memoir IN THE END was released by Left Field Publishers.

Just in time to celebrate, how sweet is this? The book’s cover has been reimagined in pastry form by the Pie Lady herself!

Pie Lady Books is the project of Steph Hockersmith, who seeks to foster “a love of reading one pie at a time” by transforming books into gorgeous baked goods. She’s even been featured on Good Morning America, where she explained her mission: “You come for the pie, but you stay for the books.”

According to her behind-the-scenes video on Instagram, this pie is spiced blueberry. (Wish I could taste it.)

I am beyond delighted, not just by the pie itself, but by all the collaboration it represents.

IN THE END exists because Left Field Publishers has brought together so many creative individuals who pour their skills into making books. For this title alone, I wrote; Kristen Bettcher edited; Annie Heisey painted; JC Fernández designed; Catherine Mora strategized communication; Amy Ruthenberg handled the business; Rachel Curtis coordinated production, distribution, and too many other responsibilities to list.

I am grateful to each and every person who helped publish IN THE END. And now, in my corny little heart, I feel like Steph Hockersmith has joined this scrappy team of visionaries, making art and sharing stories.
